Here at Maeda-en, we are celebrating our New Crop Green Tea from Japan.
New Crop Green Tea, or Shin-cha (in Japanese), is made from the very first tea harvest of the growing season. We import this New Crop Green Tea by air to California right after the fresh green tea leaves have been picked in Japan. This seasonal tea can only be purchased once a year.
Shin-cha leaves are harvested when still young and tender, so there is no need to steep it for long like Sencha or Gyokuro: a quick dip in hot water is all it takes for a delicious cup. We recommend an infusion of 40 seconds to up to a minute in 195 F degree water. |
